Mi-Whi News is a regional news collaborative spearheaded by the Journalism Program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with funding from J-Lab, the Institute for Interactive Journalism; AIMS (The Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies); and The H
arry T. Wilks Leadership Institute.
The goal of the project is to create a digital commons where citizens, student journalists and professional journalists can exchange news from the Miami and Whitewater river valleys of western Ohio and eastern Indiana. Past and present partners in the project have included:
We also have some archives of work done by student journalists as part of this project in the past. These projects include videos about issues surrounding student drinking (fall 2006) and public safety on campus (fall 2007); and stories about the lasting effects of a deadly explosion in Richmond, Indiana, more than 40 years ago (spring 2008); about the 2008 election; about the effects of education and the economy on two small towns (fall 2008); and about surviving the current economy (spring 2009).
